About Us

Dr. Northrup was born in Southern California, lived 9 years in Ohio, and started his college career at The Ohio State University. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1991 at U.C. Davis, where he went on to also earn his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1995. His first two years in practice were at a high volume, fourteen-doctor hospital in Elk Grove where he gained intensive exposure to a wide variety of both medical and surgical cases. In 1997, Dr. Northrup (and his wife at that time, Dr. Claudia Sonder) ended up moving to Napa to work with Jim and Patty Latham, and in 2001, purchased Napa Valley Veterinary Hospital.
